Americans with Disabilities Act
The Dallas Public Library is committed to providing equal access to all customers, including those with disabilities, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you require an accommodation in order to access any library materials, services, programs or public computers, please contact the library’s Assistant Director for information regarding accommodations.
Requesting Accommodations
All reasonable requests for accommodations will be considered, including requests for ASL interpretation. If a preferred accommodation cannot be provided, staff will attempt to provide an effective, alternate accommodation. Assistive software and tech
All the library’s computers include Windows 10 Accessibility Features. This includes features related to vision, hearing, neurodiversity, learning, mobility, and mental health. Windows’ screen-reading app, Narrator, is also included.
Hand-held magnifiers are available upon request at the Reference Desk of all branches and units.
The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library and each of our branches have an EasyTouch 132 large-print keyboard.
Physical Access
J. Erik Jonsson Central Library has a parking garage with handicap parking spots, elevator access and a handicap-accessible restroom stall on each floor. There is a single-stall restroom at the parking garage level.

Services Provided by the State of Texas
Talking Book Program
The Talking Book Program (TBP) provides free library services to qualifying Texans with visual, physical, or reading disabilities. TBP is part of the National Library Service to the Blind and Print Disabled, a program administered by the Library of Congress. The TBP collection consists of more than 100,000 titles, including titles in Spanish, French, and other languages.
Phone-In Book Club Series
The TBP Book Club is a phone-in format book club. Patrons are given a phone number and passcode and can join via conference call. The only technology you need to join the Book Club is a telephone! Upcoming titles are listed in advance.
