GED
Do I have to take classes before I take the GED test?
Enrolling in a GED class is not a requirement for taking the test; however, it is highly recommended. In our GED classes, you will study all four GED subjects: Math, Reading Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. You will also receive support and encouragement from dedicated teachers and the Adult Learning Staff who can answer your questions and guide you through the GED process. You can attend as many or few classes as you would like and start at any time.
How will I know when I am ready to take my official GED test?
GED.com offers a GED READY practice test which you can take before scheduling your official test. This test can be purchased through your GED.com account or you can apply for a GED scholarship. The test is only for practice and has no effect on your official GED scores. In addition to receiving a clear indication whether you are ready for your official test or not, the GED READY test will provide you with a detailed report of where you should focus your study.
Where will I take my GED test?
The Dallas Public Library operates an official GED testing Center. The testing center is located on the 3rd floor of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Our testing center is open some evenings and weekend hours. You can get more information at our Testing Center Website.
How will I get my GED certificate?
Once you pass all four GED tests, Texas Education Agency (TEA) will email you your Highschool Equivalency Certificate (GED). You can read more about this process at their website.
